MOVE Congress masterclass in supporting children’s mental and physical wellbeing through the Icehearts approach
The MOVE Congress 2023 is set to feature a two-hour masterclass that will take you on a deep dive into the successful Icehearts approach from Finland. In this masterclass, on 16 November in Madrid, you will learn how, through a comprehensive and always positive approach to the educational process, Icehearts contributes to preventing social exclusion, promoting health and mental wellbeing through an active lifestyle, and improving the psychosocial skills of disadvantaged children and adolescents.
Experts from Icehearts Finland, their Finnish stakeholders and international organisations testing the approach will walk participants through successful steps, such as developing partnerships with schools, connecting with families and getting support from community services that offer activities that help ease vulnerable children and adolescents into the kind of normal everyday life that many of their peers at the same age take for granted.
Join us in this masterclass to:
- Learn about and understand the Icehearts (Europe) model, including key lessons learned from its +25-year journey in Finland
- Understand how to act to support children’s mental and physical wellbeing through the Icehearts approach
- Become a “mini master” of the Icehearts approach, by learning what valuable skills are needed and how to address challenges as a mentor for vulnerable children
Time: Thursday, 16 November 2023: 13.45 – 15.45
Room: Zaragoza (4th floor)
Masters: Fiona Chambers and Nico Lorenzutti, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland
